Alumni Career Ambassador Network

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Alumni Career Ambassador Network is a group of alumni who support the School in their effort in to connect current PharmD students with alumni for career mentorship. This program allows students to network with alumni from the program to ask questions regarding potential career pathways; preparing for internships, fellowships, and residency programs; allow students to gain insight into various area of pharmacy; and gain exposure to career options across the globe.

As an Alumni Career Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to support current PharmD students through one-on-one engagement facilitated by the student. This time is meant for you to offer advice, insight, perspectives, and experience in preparing for post graduate training and careers. These connections are meant to be designed by the student and Alumni Career Ambassador in terms of frequency of contact and format.

How will it work?

As an Alumni Career Ambassador, you will opt-in to having your contact information available in our Alumni Career Ambassador Network Database. This database will be secured and only accessible for current PharmD students. As students think about postgraduate plans and prepare for next steps, they will have the opportunity to reach out to you through your preferred method of contact (email or phone) to set up a time to meet with you. This program will be open to all PharmD students at any year within their program and will have diverse experiences as well as questions! We recommend that you call or Zoom for a more personal interaction, but the choice is up to you!

When signing up for the Alumni Career Ambassador Network Database, you will have the option to mark the ways you would be interested in engaging with PharmD students:

• Alumni profile
• Review letters of intent and CV’s
• Connect students to internships
• Discuss next steps for residency
• Discuss next steps for fellowship
• Discuss your current career pathway and journey
• Discuss career exploration and various pathways
• Prepare for an interview (mock interview)

Alumni Recruitment Ambassador Network

The ESOP Alumni Recruitment Ambassador Program is a network of dedicated and enthusiastic graduates of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy who partner with the School regarding its effort to recruit and enroll the next generation of pharmacy leaders within the PharmD program.

ESOP Alumni Recruitment Ambassadors support School recruitment efforts in a variety of ways but focus primarily on representing the profession and the school early in the life cycle of prospective students – high school and community colleges. The efforts of Ambassadors will be crucial as we aim to reach annual enrollment goals.

Recruitment Ambassadors are split into 8 regions across the state of North Carolina.

Expectations for Recruitment Ambassadors:

• Recruit 3 Ambassadors for each of the 8 regions across the state, Ambassadors will coordinate their efforts across the given region
• Focus recruitment efforts on areas of need – particularly early in the life cycle of prospective students
• Focus on growing knowledge of the field of pharmacy for science-minded students
• Represent both the profession and the School with poise and distinction
• Engage in standardized training and expectation setting
• Commitment to 4 annual outreach events within assigned region (2 high school and 2 community college/college)
